I am not advising you to stop talking to the person, You need to put yourself out of the picture for a while to avoid making the situation worse. Do call the person but do not talk about the relationship, focus on other things and topics and if anything pretend you are friends. If the problem was temporary and your partner just needed some time alone then it should wear off.
If however the relationship is beyond saving then do not waste time on it . There are still other people out there who care about you. You still have your friends and family there for you. Just give yourself time and focus on moving on.
